Small Cars, Big Profits: Setting the Trend for Leasing

(PR Newswire)- Historically, manufacturers have pushed larger, more profitable vehicles by subsidizing their leases while de-emphasizing the smaller, less expensive models. But as gas prices and ecological awareness continue to rise, so does the public's demand for smaller, more fuel-efficient, "greener" cars; that means small cars will increase in value and leasing terms will become more attractive.

Shocker: 45% Of Premium-Brand “Buyers” Actually Lease

(Edward Niedermeyer)- Industry-wide, leases comprise about a fifth of all new vehicle registrations, but within the luxury market, lease penetration is more than twice as high at 45%. Three premium makes: BMW, Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz, actually have national lease rates at or above 50%…

These extraordinarily high lease results lead to several conclusions. First, the price of the vehicle is not the be-all and end-all. Rather, the monthly lease payment is a crucial factor. The monthly payment is not completely linked to the price, as the OEM and dealer have several tools by which to manipulate the monthly payment; these include, among other things, artificially raising the forecasted residual amount and increasing/decreasing the up-front lease payment. Second, if your premium make is not in the leasing business, you need to get there right away. Lastly, your lease rates, residuals and drive-away costs need to be competitive. Read more here…

What Are The Various Types Of Vehicle Leases Available To Customers When Purchasing A Vehicle

(Article Directory)- Car leases come in several different forms. Often a profitable and popular method of vehicle leasing available to businesses and individuals is contract hire. There is a regular monthly payment for the duration of the lease which can include maintenance and breakdown cover. This fixed amount allows you to plan your budget easily. Once the contract expires, the vehicle is returned to the cars lease company. There is no option to purchase the vehicle, but there is also no financial risk from having to dispose of the vehicle. There is no large upfront payment (sometimes as much as a third of the value when buying a car) which means that business credit lines are freed up. A good way to pay for the car leasing is to offset the rentals against business profits. Read more here…
